Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced the release of the first look of the official poster of the movie on 1 February 2024, it is the very first time Sanjay Leela Bhansali is releasing his first web show it is going to be his debut on the OTT platform, Mr. Bhansali is known for his large historical and lavish set-ups and he always showcases the class and royalness in his movies and he is coming with a new epic which is based on Heeramandi which will have a backdrop of pre-independence era.
previously the movie’s first glimpse was going to be released last year only but it got delayed and now it is dated on Feb 1st, on Wednesday evening Bhansali’s production house shared the news of the first look release on X, which was formally known as Twitter, they shared a post that says; “Get ready for the first look at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first series, the majestic world of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, arrives tomorrow!”. The announcement video also featured the news of the context that one can expect from the show. Earlier, the poster unveiled the looks of the lead characters in the web series, which includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Richa Chadha, and Sanjay’s niece Sharmin Segal, as courtesans.
storyline and plot:
Heeramandi is expected to be an epic saga of love, power, revenge and freedom. The series promises to be a profound celebration of art, culture, beauty, and Bhansali. The show is not only expected to be made with a huge! budget but it is also expected to feature a bunch of big faces/celebrities as it is said to be a social drama set based on the timeline of 1940s and revolves around the courtesan culture. In an earlier interview with Netflix, Bhansali had called “the show as a tribute to films based on courtesans like Pakeezah, Mughal–e–Azam“.

They always told stories of women, they were not necessarily telling stories of men. So if there is a Bajirao, there is also Mastani for me. If there was no Padmavati, who would hold the fort, fight and go into fire, I wouldn’t have made that film,”
