Sohum Shah had a fantastic year in 2024. He re-released his 2018 horror movie Tumbbad in theaters, and it was a big success. People who love horror movies will need to be patient a little longer to see the mystery back in theaters, but there is some great news that will definitely make them excited.

“I have the rights to make the films Veerana, Purana Haveli, and Purana Mandir. This means I will be producing them. I think there is a lot more to discover in this kind of movie. From a business perspective, it makes sense. Today, most films are horror comedies. As a writer, you can really create anything with genuine horror films. People are getting bored with the same old stories, and horror has so many options. There is a large audience eager for real horror, so it seems like a good time for this,” Sohum says.
Today, many creators are creating different worlds in their stories. We see tales about police officers, spies, and even funny spooky stories. With Tumbbad 2 and new takes on well-known scary films, is Sohum also trying to create a horror world? He replies, “We’ll see what happens, but Tumbbad is already its own world. We had this idea back in 2017 when we made it. There’s space for a prequel, sequel, and more about the characters.
