Star Wars Battlefront games
The year is 2024 and I’m back playing the original Star Wars Battlefront game. Like others, I have fond memories of the first Battlefront game. My brother and I would spend many mornings and evenings in front of the CRT TV in the dark, playing Battlefront 1 and 2 on the PlayStation 2, screaming with excitement.
Aspyr brought back two classic games this year and presented them to a new audience with the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. Returning to these games today is like traveling back to a simpler time. For those who want to remember the old days, these games are preserved exactly as you remember them. However, for those who have not played these games or are more accustomed to modern traditional shooters, the gameplay is a little different. But as a fan of the series and historical artifact, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is worth checking out.

Even though the games are 20 years old now, they feel like they’re older than that. I haven’t played any of them since they first came out, but getting to play them again today – especially the first one – might take some getting used to. First of all, these controls are not today’s killers. There are no standard control settings available for either game. The original game’s standard controls had some help and sticky sights. Search strikes can be countered as if some force abilities or lightsaber strikes were not connected, even though it looked as if they were supposed to be connected. Some game modes take longer than faster Halo or Call of Duty matches.

But actually, this needs to happen in the game right now. Back then, Call of Duty wasn’t as sniper as it is today. Many shooter games like Halo and Battlefield are still finding their place and exploring the style and gameplay mechanics that audiences love most. Battlefront is in the same situation; developers are still trying to figure out how to create a fun multiplayer shooter.
Actually, the best part of these games is their many features. Both fighting games (especially Battlefront II) have a good amount of content on their own. The most important of these is the “Galactic Conquest”. But also note that Battlefront II, released a year after the first Battlefront, could add anti-villain videos, battle arenas, improved aiming mechanics, and more water. There are many here. For those not interested in online multiplayer games, these games are versatile from a single-player’s perspective and can be played alone or with friends.

How crazy would it be if I were happy to play co-op/defense on the couch in the movie in 2024? Additionally, the features of Battlefront games are determined by the period in which the games were created. Today, product developers spend a lot of time measuring, optimizing, and ensuring multi-user experiences are efficient, seamless, and fast. However, the developers of the game focused on the single-player experience at that time and offered a game model that players could enjoy more. This doesn’t mean that today’s killers don’t have great stories based on experience, and they still do. But it’s nice to see how much content there is for people who don’t want to be online. The Battlefront Classic Collection has some changes not found in the original version.

These include additional characters not seen in the original, such as Asajj Ventress and Kit Fisto, or the PlayStation 5’s Trigger Resistance add-on feature. This is what I don’t like. For those playing on PlayStation 5, note that the game has some resistance to adjust the power, making it difficult to click and simulate the feeling of shooting a real gun. While this is great, it wears down your nails quickly. At the time of writing this article, the online server was not yet available to the public.
I can’t comment on this experience but I will in my next post. I recommend that anyone who purchases the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection treat it as a historical artifact. There are a lot of places here that could be considered “dated” or “dated”, but it also shows how far the game has come. It’s a window into a different era of video gaming, where “fun” still mattered and playgrounds offered offline content.
